A few of the Family (genealogy) Files for surnames beginning with "L" have been inventoried and put back in order. The following is an alphabetical listing with the number of pages in each file and any books/booklets are counted separately in most cases. Leave a message at bcghs@yahoo.com if you want to get a quote to have copies mailed to you.
Lamar - 96 pages [William Jefferson Lamar book is in the Reference dept on the book shelf] Lambert - 10 Lamon/Leaman/Lemon - 11 Lancaster - 4 Land - 10 Lane - 18 * separate thread for William Calvin Lane Lanier - 9 Lankford - 7 Large - 2 Larimer - 4 Latham - 3 Law - 16 + 1 booklet (23 pages) Laurence - 1 Lawson - 216 pages + 1 booklet (99 pages) Lay - 14 Lakey-Leakey-Lackey - 1 booklet (52 pages)
Watch for more "L" surnames to be listed on our website as completed.
Note about the use of the files: The number of pages listed here should be the current total. As discovered during the inventory, some of the pages have been removed. Now, the files must be checked out at the reference desk and a log of check-outs (with name and contact information) are maintained for security. All genealogy materials must be kept in the reference area. Please do not attempt to keep copies from the files. We want to preserve these documents for all to use. There is a self-serve copy machine available for your convenience. Thank you for your consideration when using the genealogy files. BCGHS

Can you tell me if Lazarus Russell Lawson or Bruce Kennedy Lawson are among the persons in the Lawson file and, if so, how many pages is there and what would be the cost to copy those pages?

Dear Gail: Thank you for your inquiry. As listed on the Forum Surnames, the Lawson Family File has 216 pages of loose pages and a 99-page booklet. Since there are over 300 pages to go through to look for the two specific names you mentioned, that could take a while to review the file. There is also a Parham genealogy file and I don't know how many pages are in that file. Parham was a Blount County genealogist in the 1930s and we have his files as well.
Please make a Record Search Request as outlined on our website. While we wish to be as helpful as possible, we have a limited number of people who can work on these requests and are taking them in the order received. The cost is $20 for a 1 hour search that includes up to 10 pages mailed or sent to me through email. The $20 is refundable if no records pertaining to your request are found. Also,, please include a time period for the two names you are seeking. Thank you.
