Hi! Is this a notebook of "general information" on these subjects? Are any surnames listed? Thanks! April

This is confusing to say it is a general reference of the listed subjects because we have tried to give specific information for Blount County. It is not a book for surname search, however.
April & Vivian, have you looked at the BCGHS family files or Parham files at the Blount Library that are filed by surname? Several other books loaded with Blount County information is Inez Burns, History of Blount County, and Polly Creekmore's book, Early East Tennessee Taxpayers. These books are surname indexed. Have you posted your names on this website?
Vivian: There is a family file on Bradburn that contains 12 pages. If you cannot go to the Blount Library, the BCGHS can copy the file for you. Request a quote for copies by letter or email.
I've been working on an index for the Family files and Parham Files that should be posted online this year. In the future, I would like to prepare an surname index to all the genealogy books in the genealogy department at the library. It will go much quicker if I can get some volunteers. It is not hard to input to a form but just takes a lot of people-power. Let me know if you are interested in helping.

For surnames and subjects, you can always check the index on this website to The Blount Journal that has been published for 30 years. Happy Hunting! April Wegner

Thank you for the reply, and I'm sorry it has taken me this long to look back here for your reply! Glad to know that the notebook is more of a Blount County resource and not surname specific.
I will try the Blount Library. Thanks again for your help! April J.

Hi Guest April J: Confusing enough for April to be answering April (wink!). I think you might want to find surnames in The Blount Journal Index before you go to the library or check on the index while there (they have a copy). There are many surname indexes I will be working on. Right now I am indexing genealogies in The Blount Journal. If you check the last couple of journals you will see some of the indexes I've compiled. The BCGHS will be putting together an major index made up of the genealogy reference books at the library. You can't get all the names in each book from the titles. So we will be picking out the names with the majority of information in each book. Also, several of us have been indexing the Family (genealogy) Files and we are up through "H" surnames. Do you have any names between A and H? If you give me the names are you looking for or give me a little more information, I may be able to give you a little more help. April Wegner (also an April J.!!!!)

Hello April W., Thought I had posted here before as a guest. Thank you and your colleagues for maintaining this forum! Decided to join this forum so that I will hopefully get notifications of replies now and not be 3 months late in replying again! ;-) I sent an email to you at the bcghs email. I am looking for a BLAIR family that was in Blount Co. around 1827 and also a PATE family that was there maybe between 1805-1815. Thanks! April J.
