Looking to connect with others researching Tippett and the associated surnames. Erastus and Erasmus Tippett, Rev War veterans born in southern MD served the patriotic cause in NC, were in Tennessee/Blount County by the turn of the 19th century. Erastus has a mention in Inez Burns' book on Blount County. The brothers' sister, Chloe Tippett, married Solomon Asbell b. NC and came to TN by way of KY. The marriage took place before 1797 when daughter Mary (ma. Lindsey) was born in TN; Solomon was a Blount County taxpayer in 1800. The mother of Erastus, Erasmus, and Chloe Tippett was Jane Tippett nee Lee who remarried Matthew Cartwright and had two sons by him after the death of her first husband, Philip Tippett. Also interested in William Barnes, Blount County landowner at the beginning of the 19th century, who may have married into the Cartwright/Asbell/Tippett family.

Found at the courthouse in Maryville a record that Erastus Tippet (sic) sold 12 acres to Daniel McKinsey in September 1811. The record indicates that Erastus had already moved to Rhea County as he's identified as 'of the county of Rhea'. The 12 acres he sold adjoins land of Daniel McKinsey (probably why McKinsey wanted these 12 acres); William Barnes; and Moses Hughes.

Donald Daniel Mackenzie/McKinsey was Erastus Tippet's son-in-law. He married Virginia "Jenny" Tippet...her headstone in the Keller-Moser Cemetery in Monroe County TN says "Jane" (her grandmother was Jane Lee Tippet. If you find something different, please let me know. My wife's Tippet line wandered over to Missouri eventually, while some of that bunch went to Texas.
