The genealogy "Family Files" at the Blount County Library (in Maryville) are being inventoried and indexed by the BCGHS. The documents in these files have been submitted over a number of years by family members. The BCGHS has NOT verified anything in these files. Some files have copies of original wills, bibles, vital records, and court documents (with citations) that can be quite useful. Any information in the documents from secondary sources should be verified. If you have questions about how to verify the information, you may contact the BCGHS for help.
We will be posting the alphabetical listing under the appropriate surname thread on this website as the indexing is completed. Each surname is followed by the number of loose pages in each file and a plus sign before the number of booklets. Leave a message at bcghs@yahoo.com if you want to get a quote to have copies mailed to you.
Note about the use of the files: The number of pages listed after each surname is the current total. As discovered during the inventory, some of the pages had been removed. Therefore, files must now be checked out at the reference desk and a log of this is maintained for security. All genealogy materials must be used at the designated tables. Please do not keep the pages, photocopies can be made in the reference department. We want to preserve these documents for all to use. Thank you for your consideration when using the genealogy files.
