The Family (genealogy) Files for surnames beginning with "D" have been inventoried and put back in order. The following is an alphabetical listing with the number of pages in each file and any books/booklets are counted separately in most cases. Leave a message at bcghs@yahoo.com if you want to get a quote to have copies mailed to you.
Note about the use of the files: The number of pages listed here should be the current total. As discovered during the inventory, some of the pages had been removed. Now, the files must be checked out at the reference desk and a log of check-outs (with name and contact information) are maintained for security. All genealogy materials must be kept in the reference area. Please do not attempt to keep copies from the files. We want to preserve these documents for all to use. There is a self-serve copy machine available for your convenience. Thank you for your consideration when using the genealogy files. BCGHS

William Hamby 1744-1840 Rev War soldier lived in Cade's Cove and is buried in a Baptist Cemetery there. He left items to children of John and Thomas Deaver, including Reuben Keith Deaver. Would appreciate any information you have on Thomas' wife and the mother of Reuben Keith Deaver. She may have been Wm Hamby's daughter.

Reply to Laura Q regarding Deaver. We have no file on that surname. Have you done 1850 census search for Deaver and made sure they stayed in Blount County? Or do you want to follow Hamby? I am indexing more sources so keep reading your journals and watching the website for Deaver and Hamby listings. Are you local and have access to Maryville library?
