There are at least 5 ways to look for more information on Blount County Surnames. (1) Check the Forum and look for your surname, you may find other persons posting information. (2) The (Maryville) Blount County Public Library keeps genealogy files of surnames. One set of files is called the "Family Files" maintained by the BCGHS. The other set of files is called the Will E. Parham Papers or Files. Will E. Parham was a genealogist in the 1930s and 1940s that kept surname files. BOTH sets of files are being indexed and are available to be viewed at the library or requests for copies can be made through the BCGHS. Requests to view the files can be made at the library's reference desk. (3) As the two sets of files, "Family Files" and "Parham Files" are being inventoried, the SURNAMES on these files will be posted on this Forum website (by the first letter of the surname). The surnames will include the number of pages and if any booklets are in the files. Specific questions regarding an individual file can be sent to the BCGHS email at bcghs@yahoo.com. (4) The Blount Journal Spring 2018 issue has a newly composed SURNAME listing of genealogies that have been published in past journals. A review was made of every journal to provide only the surnames that had at least genealogy events. It is a 6-page listing that is available in the BCGHS office. (5) An index of The Blount Journal is maintained on this BCGHS website. The index has been created from the titles of the articles. SURNAMES are listed in this index. (It is currently being updated to include the latest issues and make some corrections.) Questions: email bcghs@yahoo.com / attention: April Wegner
