McCurdy / Stone
William Henry McCurdy was born 14 Dec 1790 at VA. He died at Monroe Co TN on 1 Sep 1879. He went by Henry McCurdy and is supposed to have been a minister.
Hannah Stone born 19 Jan 1783 at Surry Co NC and died 5 Sep 1845 in Post Oak, Johnson Co MO. They married 25 Aug 1818 at Blount Co TN. Their son Robert Thompson McCurdy was born 29 Jul 1819 at TN & died at Villa Rica, Carroll Co, Ga. on 20 Aug 1895.
I am looking for a baptismal record for Robert Thompson McCurdy or some documentation that proves he was the son of Hannah & Henry McCurdy.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Ann: Here are several ideas to move your research forward. Contact the Clerk at the Monroe County Courthouse and ask if she has a will or other estate records for Henry McCurdy. I forgot her name but she is very helpful. Found a posting with lots of information on Henry McCurdy at genealogy.com under surnames (then find Henry McCurdy by Joy Perry posted Jan 22, 2003). Henry was in several military wars and may have pensions filed by the second wife. Another idea is Henry is buried in Hickory Grove Cemetery that is a Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The baptismal records (if they exist) will be in the church records. Another source said that Henry was a Methodist Minister but that may be an error since he is buried in the Cumberland Pres. Churchyard. I think I say Hannah Stone McCurdy also buried in a Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Johnson Co, MO. Lastly, Johnson County, MO has a county history book of genealogies in Google Books (free). We have lots of Monroe County books in our Blount County Library. If you send a request for research to BCGHS, a society member will look through Monroe County books for up to 30 minutes and send you up to 10 copied pages for $10. (Be sure to tell them to use the Monroe County books!) You can tell them I referred you in a request so I can give some assistance. Good Luck, April Wegner

I would like to request the 30 minutes of research and 10 copies for $10, but I can't find where to place the request. Could you help me with that, please. It was my family tree that Ann Poole was researching when she made the initial request here.
Thank you,
Carolyn Lee

Carolyn Lee: The Research option has upgraded since you last used it. It is now called the Document Search Request that covers 1 hour of research time for $20. The request can be made online on this website under the SERVICES tab with payment via PayPal. There is other instructions if you want to make the request by mail. I hope that answers your question. Compared to most genealogy research fees by other societies, this is a very good option. Thank you.
