The Family (genealogy) Files for surnames starting with "A" have been inventoried and put back in order. The following is an alphabetical listing with the number of pages in each file and any books/booklets are counted separately in most cases. Several files are in several folders as noted.
Note about the use of the files: The number of pages listed here should be the current total. As discovered during the inventory, some of the pages had been removed. The files must be checked out at the reference desk and a log of this is maintained for security. All genealogy materials must be kept in the reference area. Please do not keep the pages, photocopies can be made. We want to preserve these documents for all to use. Thank you for your consideration when using the genealogy files. BCGHS

Is it possible to get copies of some of these pages ? I'm in California and have traced one of my family branches to Blount County around 1830. Thanks

Hi Sam: In response to your question about getting copies of family files, the answer is yes. We can make copies for you. Send me an email through the BCGHS website with Attention: April Wegner. Let me know the surname on the file and the number of copies that is posted. The cost is $1 for the 1st copy and 50 cents for each additional copy. If it is a small file to copy, I can email them. If it is a medium to large file or you want them mailed, I will need to calculate the postage. Hope to hear from you soon. April

Hi April, How do I provide (and what types of records do you want?) something to create a file for "Asbell", Blount County resident late 1700s/early 1800s.

Hi Cathy: Answering your question about contributing documents for the family files (specifically Asbell a Blount County Resident in the late 1700s to early 1800s in your case). We are able to add copies of original documents. Created stories or research will be added to the files if they are clearly presented, easy to read and represent genealogical facts. Rambling thoughts and notes written down on paper will not be placed in the files. Also, copied documents and photos with large black ink edging will not be placed in the files. Be sure to crop any black edges out of a scan or download before sending to bcghs@yahoo.com attn: April for Family Files.
