Dear friends of the Blount Co. Genealogical and Historical Society, I am trying to find out who were the parents of James McTeer (b.1765-d.28 Sept,1832 in Blount Co., Tennessee) married to Jeanette McTeer (b.1775 in Pennsylvania & married 07 August, 1798 in Blount Co., Tennessee). I can trace Jeanette's family history through Capt. Robert McTeer (Revolutionary War) to James McTeer (1697 County Down, Ireland) first immigrant to America, but have not found any of James' connection. Can anyone help me out? Thank you in advance, Dan Vandevier Yoshimoto. yoshells2@yahoo.com or yoshimotodan@yahoo.comPosted 02/06/2012

Just checking... are you saying that James McTeer married Jeanette McTeer, her maiden name was McTeer same as James?

Dan: The Blount Journal had a short article on James McTeer, Fall 2016 issue on page 27 and 28. The author of the article references this book: McTeer-Mateer Families of Cumberland County Pennsylvania by Frances Davis McTeer (1975). The book details the voyage to America on pages 7 and 23-26. See if it is available on Google Books or interlibrary loan. If not there, try Amazon books for purchase. Let us know what you find. April Wegner, BCGHS
