I am searching for information on Holston College.
I believe that my great grand uncle, Peter James (or James Peter) Bright (1848-1911) and great grand aunt, Hannah Bright (1851-1924) taught at the school. It is possible that my great grandfather, William Wood Field Bright (1840-1902) attended school there. All three were born and raised in Blount County. Peter and Hannah died in Blount County; William moved to Pickens County, SC.
Peter, Hannah, their mother Jane Key Bright (stone reads Jane S Bright), and other family members are buried at the Holston College Cemetery.
Where would I find the records for the school? Was it a public or private school? The name Holston Seminary leads me to believe that it was a private, possibly Presbyterian, school. If it was affiliated with a church, what was the name of the church? Where would I start looking for any church records?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
