I was truly sad to hear of the death of Ken Cornett. Ken and I became friends when he helped me place three cenotaphs for Kidd Union soldiers who were killed but whose bodies were never recovered. When my sister and brother in law, went to Mt. Moriah in 2001 on a trip from their home in California, it was totally overgrown and my brother in law crawled on hands and knees to locate Kidd family stones. By the time I was able to have ceremony for the placement of the cenotaphs, 2018, Ken and his friend Omer Dyer, and several volunteers had it looking beautiful. In the fall of 2021 my wife and I, also Californians, visited Mt Moriah and it is once again overgrown. It’s hard to do long distance cemetery restoration but thanks to my cousin Alma Kidd Hall’s husband Joe we have lined up a contractor to weed whack and otherwise clean up Mt. Moriah. It is not inexpensive so I am establishing a goFundMe Mt. Moriah appeal to help to pay for the work being done now and hopefully enough to keep Mt Moriah cleaned up until a more permanent solution can be established. I m hoping to have GoFunded Me set up in the next couple of weeks and will be emailing a link to it to as many descendants of the Kidds buried there, as I can find. Any advice as to organizations or individuals who might wish to participate would be appreciated. Dave Kidd dmkidd01@aol.com, or message to 310-614-5231
