As I am not sure if the Whorton/Campbell side of the family actually came from Blount County but all Census have Tennessee as place of Birth should I still enter the DNA when the results come in? Whorton/Campbell is my nightmare brick wall that I have been struggling with for years & I would not want to mislead anyone if they are not from there.

Hello Linda, Thanks for the question and I really appreciate you asking first. As much as I hate to sound exclusive, the registry is for those with known ties to Blount County. It sounds like you are currently awaiting results. May I ask what company you are using for your service? I'd be happy to offer you some assistance with your data. If you happen to be using FamilyTreeDNA, there are family surname groups that you can join to aid you in your search. I am also a member of a "East TN" group on FTDNA. I'd also suggest adding your results to GEDMatch. This free site will allow you greater exposure with your information. Finally, search Facebook for DNA/genealogy groups. There are a number of good ones to join.
If you happen to discover a Blount County connection, we'd love having you as part of the registry! Thanks, Donny

Donny, Not new to bcghs, have been a member for several years. Also, several years ago I had DNA test done on Family Finder DNA. Not sure what info I should post here, if any. My Grandmother Wilkinson and Grandfather Kidd were both born in Maryville. Though I live in Ca. I'm close to cousins in M-vile and will once again be going to the Kidd reunion in June. Let me know if there is anything I can contribute.

David Kidd, Have you registered your DNA on the Blount County DNA Registry? I am just learning about how to use DNA and so far have no known Blount County DNA connections. I hope that many more people can be identified from the Kidd Reunion photo posted in the Spring 2017 Journal. One of our BCGHS board members, Karen Kidd, will be attending the Kidd reunion. She will be giving us an update on the meeting. April Wegner, Editor of The Blount Journal
