Looking for any information on John Hanna(h). I believe he and his family came to Blount County abt 1794. He married Jane Trimble in Blount Co. in 1796. This was his second marriage. I don't know the name of his first wife. I have a copy of his will, which was probated in Blount County in 1813, so I'm putting his DOD as 1813. I'm looking for anything that can lead me to a DOB and also where he was born and where he lived before coming to Blount County. Also the names of his parents. I have exhausted all online resources that I know of. Thank you to anyone who can help.

Thanks Tony...The DOB will certainly help with my search. I still can't find his parents or where he lived before moving to Blount County. There are so many John Hanna's, and it gets very confusing. The Hanna family certainly used the Scots-Irish tradition of naming their sons! Thanks again for the information...

You can order a copy of the original marriage bond from the Blount County Records and Management Office. For 1796, the marriage bond is probably the only document filed and not a marriage license. However, I would request a copy of what is filed. THE ORIGINAL RECORD IS ALWAYS THE BEST EVIDENCE. The cost was $2 for the first page and $1 for each additional page in 2014. You can pick up there is you call ahead or transact by mail. The records office moved out of the Hubbard School building to a new location at 1229 McArthur Road, Maryville, TN 37804. 865 / 380-4295 (office) 865 / 380-4297 (fax). Call before you make the trip and have your order ready to pick up. Other contact numbers: jglenn@blounttn.org or ltallent@blounttn.org. website: www.blounttn.org/records.aspAlso, not sure what online source you have tried. Have you tried Google books and making a search for John Hanna(h)? Many old books are free downloads. Next, The Blount Journal has an updated index posted on this website. There is probably something on Hanna or Hannah. There is a good book titled The Family Tree Problem Solver that is specifically for "brick wall" problems. In order to avoid confusion, use genealogy forms (check CyndisList.com for free downloads) or Excel spreadsheets to organize the information you have gathered. good luck.
