The Family (genealogy) Files for surnames beginning with "F" have been inventoried and put back in order. The following is an alphabetical listing with the number of pages in each file and any books/booklets are counted separately in most cases. Leave a message at bcghs@yahoo.com if you want to get a quote to have copies mailed to you.
Note about the use of the files: The number of pages listed here should be the current total. As discovered during the inventory, some of the pages have been removed. Now, the files must be checked out at the reference desk and a log of check-outs (with name and contact information) are maintained for security. All genealogy materials must be kept in the reference area. Please do not attempt to keep copies from the files. We want to preserve these documents for all to use. There is a self-serve copy machine available for your convenience. Thank you for your consideration when using the genealogy files. BCGHS

April, when's the best time to come by the library and get someone to show me the 84 "items" in the Foute file? Perhaps this will help me identify where Fouts Valley (Foute's?) was located c. 1803? TY

Answer to TY: The Foute files are all available when the library is open at the REFERENCE DESK. You can only review the files at the designated tables in the reference section of the library. They will hold your library card or license until you return the file. There are 84 pages or documents in the FOUTE Family File and there is also a Will PARHAM file with an unspecified number of pages. Be sure to review both. An additional suggestion about looking for a specific place. There is a book at the library in reference section titled, Place Names of Tennessee. As I recall, the book is divided into counties. Look for the place within the county or there may be an inclusive index for the state of Tennessee. It has been a while since I have used this book. The author is Fullerton and call number L976.8 FUL (in genealogy reference department). Please post if you find or do not find the place in question. Thanks, April
